Pamela McColl is an author publisher who is also a collector of the famous poem Twas The Night Before Christmas first published in 1823 in the Troy Sentinel newspaper. McColl has spoken at over 150 museums around the country on both the development of Christmas traditions in America and the poem’s legacy. In 2012, McColl drew international media attention for being the first publisher to publish the poem without the reference or depiction of Santa with a pipe or wreath of smoke around his head. This edit caused a sensation and McColl continues to defend her edit as appropriate in a work written for the juvenile market. McColl has just finished a new book on the literary and publishing history of works on Mrs. Claus that spans decades beginning in 1848.
